SUMMARY
Redbridge Council has taken a pioneering step towards sustainable road infrastructure by becoming the first London borough to utilise ACLA®, LCM's revolutionary carbon-negative aggregate for asphalt.
In partnership with Kensons Highways, Redbridge Council resurfaced Lodge Hill Road with a Tarmac asphalt mix incorporating ACLA®, dramatically reducing the project's carbon footprint by 68% (equivalent to an average UK car driving 17,400 miles or approximately a round trip to Los Angeles for two people).
ACLA® was used in the binder course asphalt of the resurfacing, which ensured the entire middle layer of the road was net zero, as well as significantly lowering the overall project's carbon footprint. Every tonne of ACLA® produced permanently removed 748 kg of CO2e from the atmosphere.
