SUMMARY
Redcar & Cleveland Council has successfully completed a resurfacing project on the A171 incorporating an innovative low-carbon asphalt, supplied and laid by Tarmac. This project demonstrates their shared commitment to sustainable infrastructure and reducing carbon emissions.
Using ACLA® in the asphalt mix reduced the projects carbon footprint by 7.48 tonnes of CO2e – the equivalent of an average UK car driving over 25,000 miles.
Tarmac has experience utilising ACLA® in various road projects. This project represents the first time Redcar and Cleveland Council has adopted this low-carbon solution, underscoring their dedication to sustainable practices and reducing the carbon footprint of road maintenance.
